Tongatapu

We were in Vavau and Togantapu a month after this. Jan-April is a great time to be in the south pacific (cyclones not withstanding) light winds and a great chance of both south and north swells. As always in this part of the world (especially compared to indo) accesses is a big issue with a lack of infrastructure and cheap, simple, easy ways to get to the surf.

A lot of construction on Ha'atafu recently which may change the dynamic of this area. North swells really light these reefs up with ETs being a gem of a wave I’ve get to get anything more than a taste of, but lighthouse rights is also a great barrel. Vavau’s waves gets far more energy from the south swells than Ha'atafu, getting to em is the trick! Let us know if you’re heading this way and we can help you find waves out on the edge of surf tourism.
